Julia Ridgeway is a senior at Keystone School in San Antonio, Texas. She is National News editor for the school's newspaper, and is on the editorial staff of the school literary magazine. She is the president of the Key Club, active in the Spanish Club, and has been the varsity basketball captain. Ridgeway's "The Poet Writes" was selected as a winner of the San Antonio Public Library's 2004 Young Pegasus Poetry Contest (the oldest student writing contest in the country). Other poems have been published in local and national poetry anthologies. A science fair veteran, her 2004 project won first grand prize at the Alamo Regional Science and Engineering Fair, qualifying her team to participate in the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair in Portland, Oregon. She is also an accomplished, life-long pianist. Ridgeway's poetry comes from a variety of inspirations, including music, science, and her extensive travels. She is fluent in Spanish, has travelled in Europe and Latin America, and has lived in Argentina. Her multicultural heritage is reflected in her poetry.
