Deborah Parédez
Deborah Parédez is a native of San Antonio with deep Tejana roots. Her poems have appeared in Daughters of the Fifth Sun: A Collection of U.S. Latina Fiction and Poetry (Putnam, 1995), This Promiscuous Light (Wings Press, 1996), ÁFloricanto S! A Collection of Latina Poetry (Penguin, 1998), and in several literary magazines. She is currently at work on a book about the cultural phenomena that followed the death of the singer, Selena. She holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Latino theater. She taught in the drama department at Vassar College before becoming a professor at the University of Texas at Austin.
