Virgil Suarez
Born in Havana, Cuba, Virgil Suárez is currently a professor of creative writing at Florida State University in Tallahassee. He is the author of four novels:
- Latin Jazz (1989)
- The Cutter (1991)
- Havana Thursdays (1995)
- Going Under (1997)
Suárez is also the editor of several important anthologies, including Iguana Dreams: New Latino Fiction (1993), Paper Dance: 55 Latino Poets (1995), and Little Havana Blues: A Cuban-American Literature Anthology (1996).
Moreover, his poetry has appeared in Ploughshares, Mid-American Review, American Literary Review, The American Voice, and other journals. Garabato Poems is Suárez's first collection of poems.
